Aside from this, they readily offer clients a broad plethora of treatment options to further fit the comfort, needs, and lifestyle of the client to offer painless treatments and faster recovery times.

We like that they’re able to treat a broad range of conditions of the shoulder, elbow, knee, foot and ankle, as well as hand and wrist.
Their overall goal is to restore function alleviate pain and improve the quality of life of the people that come in to their clinic.
We like that they make use of evidence-based treatments and keep up to date on the updated guidelines and research in their field to provide the care for their patients.
Their approach also involves collaboration with their patients which is something we think is important and we’re glad that they do it.
The staff at their clinic and all the doctors show that they care about each patient and are attentive to their needs. They’re also generous with sharing their knowledge to keep patients in the loop when it comes to their treatment.
We recommend!

Pros
- Multi-awarded and Swiss fellowship-trained and MOH-accredited orthopaedic surgeon
- Extensive experience in array of orthopaedic conditions
- Accepts most insurances, and has various clinic locations for easy access for patients
- Friendly and prompt customer service
- Partners up with MRI/Xray/lab partners and physiotherapists as well as podiatrists to provide a comprehensive and personalised recovery plan where needed
- Sports and exercise medicine expertise, for all types of sports-related activity at all levels
- Uses robotic-assisted technology and minimally invasive techniques for surgeries
Cons
- Closed on Sundays and public holidays
OrthoCare – Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine is led by Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Anandakumar Vellasamy (Dr Ananda Vella).
What we find most impressive about Dr. Ananda Vella is that he’s a multi-awarded Swiss fellowship trained and local MOH-accredited orthopaedic surgeon, with experience in treating all types of orthopaedic conditions and injuries – across all parts of the body, from paediatric to geriatric conditions, in addition to being further sub-specialised trained in all types of fractures as well as all foot and ankle conditions. Dr Ananda is also known for his friendly, caring and collaborative approach as he explains all aspects of the conditions and treatment clearly, believing in a collaborative approach with patients to relieve pain effectively.
As an athlete himself, Dr Ananda is familiar with treating various sports-related conditions and injuries, and can provide patients with a prompt diagnosis as well as comprehensive and practical advice to get them back to their active lifestyles, including incorporating recommendations to sports physiotherapists for personalisedrecovery programs.
Aside from this, we were impressed at how Dr Ananda keeps up-to-date with the modern technologies, including having been trained in various robotic-assisted technology from Mako to Rosa techniques for hip and knee replacements, as well as being well-versed in (keyhole) minimally invasive surgeries too.
Additionally, we like how the clinic partners different radiology centres and laboratories for patient’s convenience with ease for insurance claims and accessibility. If you require CT, MRI scans, or other tests, you will be referred to your preferred laboratory or radiology centre to ensure a seamless experience.
Another great thing we found about OrthoCare is that it has 3 branches that are conveniently situated at Mount Elizabeth Novena, Parkway East and Farrer Park medical centres, while being accredited to operate at any private hospital islandwide. These accessible locations make it easier for you to see Dr Ananda at a branch convenient to you.
Quite importantly for orthopaedic injuries, OrthoCare accepts various health insurance partners to continue to keep treatments affordable. With Dr Ananda on most insurance and integrated shield plan panels, patients have ease of mind on their financial costsso that they can concentrate on their recovery process.
Finally, there’s no room for complaints about its customer support, either. We found its staff prompt, friendly, and accommodating – and competent enough to assist in the entire process, whether local or foreign patients. Given the high level of care for each patient throughout the process, Dr Ananda and his team’s attentive and caring approach keeps every patient feeling cared for and comfortable.
The downside is that OrthoCare follows regular clinic hours — which means they’re closed on both Sundays and public holidays, but the staff were still ready to accommodate as prepared as possible for the soonest available appointments and went out of their way to answer queries as and when required.

Pros
- Personalised solutions for patients
- Multi-awarded and fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon
- Highly accommodating customer service
- Situated on Mount Elizabeth Hospital premises
Cons
- Advanced booking is recommended due to popularity
With a fellowship-trained consultant orthopaedic surgeon at its help, The Bone & Joint Centre (BJC) provides sound medical solutions for a broad range of orthopaedic issues.
Helmed by Dr. Kevin Koo Oon Thien, The Bone & Joint Centre is equipped with over 20 years of experience and special training where musculoskeletal injuries are involved.
If you are dealing with foot or ankle injuries, we recommend Dr. Kevin Koo at The Bone & Joint Centre. Notably, he was the former director of the Foot and Ankle Service at Singapore General Hospital – plus points for credentials in our books!
Whether it’s an ankle sprain or a more complicated deformity, we like that The Bone & Joint Centre and its specialists have the expertise and tools for a personalised recovery plan.
We also find it noteworthy that Dr. Kevin Koo’s practice has been distinguished and awarded by various medical institutions in and outside Singapore. Because of this recognition, patients are guaranteed to receive expert service.
Additionally, The Bone and Joint Centre also specialises in joint replacement and sports and dance injuries — for any joint and skeletal structure of your body. Whether it’s your shoulders, hip, or wrist, we trust that The Bone and Joint Centre can patch it up.
Another great thing we found about The Bone & Joint Centre is that its clinic takes residence at Mount Elizabeth Hospital. This accessible location makes it easier for you to stop at other clinics if you have any other health concerns.
However, this location is also its downside since the area is prone to traffic. Also, since it’s situated within the hospital premises, driving down to The Bone & Joint Centre means you’ll have to share the same parking spaces as other hospital visitors.
Nonetheless, we still recommend The Bone & Joint Centre for its expert and considerate, albeit small, team. The staff is also responsive and reassuring, which is great for nervous patients.

Pros
- Immediate and sustainable treatment
- Has two resident orthopaedic specialists with distinct areas of expertise
- Offers screening packages inclusive of consultation and screening fees
- Accessible via three branches
Cons
- Generally pricey rates
- Regular office hours are divided into two shifts on weekdays
Ardmore Orthopaedic Clinic doesn’t just provide expert orthopaedic treatments for its patients. It also ensures that its solutions are sustainable and enduring, an aspect that we like most.
Another thing we appreciate about Ardmore Orthopaedic Clinic is the comprehensive care. From the beginning of your screening to the final steps of the recovery program, it gives a detailed and thorough service.
While Ardmore Orthopaedic Clinic specialises in general orthopaedic and trauma surgery, its two resident orthopaedic specialists have their own particular fields of practice.
Dr. Sean Ng, the specialist for foot and ankle injuries, was a former Medical Board of Singapore General Hospital member. The other orthopaedic specialist is Dr. Chong Xue Ling, the resident expert for shoulder and elbow surgeries.
Aside from its notable specialists, we think that the strongest suit of Ardmore Orthopaedic Clinic is its screening packages. We like that these include the consultation fees and X-Ray and MRI costs.
However, as a private clinic, its rates are typically pricier. Still, we appreciate that its packages are still quite a steal, even though you’ll have to shell out more cash initially.
We also like that Ardmore Orthopaedic Clinic is easy to reach through its website, WhatsApp, or physical location. For one, it has three branches accessible for its patients, all within the hospital premises.
On the other hand, all its branches follow the general clinic schedule in Singapore, which means it’s closed on Sundays and public holidays.
Moreover, we think that the consultation time with the specialists is limited since they have shifting schedules.
Nevertheless, many patients we surveyed praised Ardmore Orthopaedic Clinic’s personalised and sustainable treatments. Because of its good track record, we recommend them to anyone looking for long-term recovery programs.
6. Dr. Alan Cheung (International Orthopaedic Clinic)

Services: Foot & Ankle, Knee, Hip, Shoulder & Upper Limb Conditions and Trauma; Sports Injuries and Surgery; Robotic Surgery

Pros
- Sports-specialised services
- Uses robotic-assisted technology for surgeries
- Partners up with laboratory and physiotherapists to provide a personalised recovery plan
- Prompt customer service
Cons
- Traffic-prone area
- Relatively high rates
The International Orthopaedic Clinic (IOC) stands as one of Singapore’s orthopaedic clinics. It is led by the esteemed Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr. Alan Cheung, who serves as the clinic’s sole specialist.
What we find most impressive about Dr. Alan Cheung is that he’s an athlete. Hence, he’s familiar with most sports-related trauma and can provide patients with a prompt diagnosis.
We also appreciate that he recognises each athlete’s and sport’s unique demands and thus partners with specific physiotherapists for different sports to personalise recovery programs for athletes.
Aside from this, International Orthopaedic Clinic also uses robotic-assisted technology to perform surgery and ensure a more precise outcome.
Additionally, we like how the clinic has associates in different laboratories. If you require CT, MRI scans, or other tests, you will be referred to an affiliated laboratory to save time.
There’s no room for complaints about its customer support, either. We found its staff prompt, friendly, and very accommodating – all the qualities that can make a patient feel more comfortable.
On the downside, it’s situated within Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital’s premises, so driving down to its clinic means you’ll have to share parking spaces with visitors. Additionally, it faces the same traffic-prone disadvantage.
Lastly, as a private clinic, its fees can be heavy on the pocket. We advise consulting your health insurance provider to check if your policy can cover the clinic’s cost, especially if you’re going in for surgery.
7. Dr. Kannan Kaliyaperumal (Specialist Orthopaedic Centre)

Services: Foot & Ankle, Knee Conditions; Trauma Surgery & Treatment; Paediatric Orthopaedics; Geriartic Orthopaedics

Pros
- Expertise in foot & ankle injuries
- Offers both paediatrics and geriatric services
- Has health insurance partners to make services cheaper
- Additional branches available to accommodate more patients
Cons
- Branch clinic only available on Tuesdays and Thursdays
- Main clinic area prone to heavy traffic
Mount Elizabeth’s Novena Hospital is a centre for talented orthopaedic doctors. Among them is ankle specialist Dr. Kannan Kaliyaperumal, head of the Specialist Orthopaedic Centre.
As far as experience and proficiency go, we admire Dr. Kannan Kaliyaperumal’s dedication to foot and ankle injury treatment.
For one, he was the founder of the Orthopaedic Department’s Foot and Ankle Division at the Tan Tock Seng Hospital’s (TTSH) Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Centre for Foot and Ankle under the Centre for Orthopaedic (CFO).
These are all appealing credentials because it tells us that Dr. Kannan Kaliyaperumal’s expertise in foot and ankle conditions are time-tested and unparalleled.
What we like even more is how Dr. Kannan Kaliyaperumal’s services aren’t just limited to injured adults. He can accommodate children for paediatric treatment and surgery, too.
Furthermore, Specialist Orthopaedic Centre and Dr Kannan Kaliyaperumal can provide solutions for fractures on the elbows, forearms, or even a child’s growth plates.
Even osteoporosis is within Dr. Kannan Kaliyaperumal’s expertise! Talk about an all-rounder, right?
Nonetheless, despite Dr. Kannan Kaliyaperumal’s expertise, we still found Specialist Orthopaedic Centre not as well-rounded as its competitors.
Since Specialist Orthopaedic Centre is a private clinic located within private hospital premises, we understand why its fees are higher than most.
Its strongest suit is it accepts various health insurance partners. Also, it encourages patients to get Integrated Shield Plans (IP) for cashless service.
Another great thing about this clinic is that it has two branches.
If Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital’s grounds are inaccessible for you, you can still visit its Parkway branch. However, this particular branch is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Moreover, both clinics follow regular clinic hours — which means they’re both closed on Sundays and public holidays.

Pros
- One-stop services, including laboratory tests
- Has a huge team of qualified orthopaedic specialists
- Situated in hospital premises
- Branch clinic available for appointments
Cons
- Pricey rates
- Branch clinic accessible via appointments only
- In-demand services with passive customer service
Singapore Sports and Orthopaedic Clinic (SSOC) is staffed with six globally-trained orthopaedic specialists. Because of their impressive credentials, we can’t recommend just one doctor from here.
From your neck and spine down to your ankle — the orthopaedic specialists from SSOC can take care of your concerns!
As a matter of fact, its broad team of specialists is what we consider to be its advantage. Its available doctors and facilities allow it to be a one-stop medical centre.
And one-stop indeed! SSOC offers treatments and surgeries for various musculoskeletal concerns and injuries and has X-ray and MRI services, among other things.
However, we’re disappointed that they don’t offer discounted packages for patients availing of various services and undergoing treatments.
Furthermore, SSOC’s rates aren’t cheap, either. Its consultation fees also differ depending on your chosen orthopaedic specialist.
Nevertheless, we trust that appointments in SSOC are productive, especially if you need to run a couple laboratory tests after your consultation. Since there are laboratories on the premises, you would save plenty of time going back and forth.
Its location in Gleneagle Hospital premises also affirms its one-stop features. Although, like with others on this list, we consider this a disadvantage because of the limited parking spaces.
Also, its customer service quality evidently suffers because of the high demand and patient volume. You can find its clinics often bustling, so the staff can be a bit too dismissive at times.
We also like that it has a clinic at Paragon Medical Tower. However, this branch accepts those with an appointment.
Overall, we think the orthopaedic specialists at SSOC are true experts and professionals. However, we feel this place is for those with health insurance plans that cover the high surgery costs in this clinic.
