How to Get to Singapore Zoo

The Singapore Zoo is located on Mandai Lake Road, directly across from River Wonders Singapore. 

You can get there via public transportation (bus or MRT) or ride a private vehicle.

Via MRT

To get to the Singapore Zoo via MRT, take the North-South Line and alight at the Khatib MRT Station. 

From there, you can board bus service 138, which will drop you off right at the zoo’s doorstep. 

The entire trip is a smooth and scenic 15-minute ride.

Via Bus Transpo

If you prefer a bus ride to the Singapore Zoo, the primary bus services to look out for are bus numbers 138, 927, and 926. The bus routes will take you to the Mandai Lake Road bus stop.

The zoo is just a short walk from there.

Pro Tip Before you start your adventure at the zoo, it’s wise to check the bus schedule and note the last bus that will take you back to the MRT station or your original location. Buses typically run until late afternoon, so plan your visit accordingly.

Via Private Car

If you prefer to drive to the Singapore Zoo, you can set the park’s address as your destination using your GPS device. The park’s address is 80 Mandai Lake Rd, Singapore 729826.

From Singapore’s Downtown Area

If you’re coming from Singapore’s downtown area, begin by heading north. Take the Central Expressway (CTE) and merge onto the Seletar Expressway (SLE).

After a while on the SLE, watch for the exit sign for Mandai Road. Take this exit, leading you directly to the zoo’s vicinity.

From Changi Airport

If you’re coming directly from or within Changi Airport, head west on Airport Boulevard and follow the signs for the TPE (Tampines Expressway).

Merge onto the SLE (Seletar Expressway) from the TPEs. The SLE will take you to the northern parts of Singapore.

As you continue on the SLE, take the exit onto Mandai Road, which will lead you closer to the zoo’s location.

Things You Must-Know before Visiting the Singapore Zoo

Night Safari is a separate attraction within the zoo. You may need a separate ticket for this experience.

If you plan to visit, note that it operates in the evening, Monday to Sunday, from 7:15 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.

If you’re traveling with young children or individuals with mobility issues, the zoo offers stroller and wheelchair rentals.

Food and Snacks

The restaurant’s al fresco dining area allows you to enjoy your meal while surrounded by nature’s soothing sounds. It’s an ideal spot for families, as there’s a play area for the little ones to have fun while you dine.

The restaurant is known for its must-try sumptuous Hainanese chicken rice. Its tender chicken, fragrant rice, and delectable chili sauce are also divine.

But that’s not all Ah Meng Restaurant has to offer. You’ll find a range of other dishes to suit your taste, from noodle soups to hearty burgers.

And if you have a sweet tooth, don’t forget to explore their dessert options, which include delectable treats like ice cream and fruit tarts.

I opted for a plate of aromatic Singaporean laksa during my visit to Mama Panda Kitchen. I’ve also tried the rich, creamy coconut-based broth with spices and noodles.

The restaurant provides indoor and outdoor seating, allowing you to choose your preferred dining atmosphere.

With a view of the river and the wildlife beyond, it was an experience that combined great food with a soothing natural backdrop.

I stopped by this diner to grab a light lunch and was pleased to find a variety of sandwiches and wraps on the menu.

The smoked salmon sandwich with a zesty cream cheese spread was my favorite. It was a simple yet satisfying choice that didn’t weigh me down as I continued my exploration of the zoo.

The cafe also serves a range of beverages, including freshly brewed coffee, iced teas, and chilled fruit juices.

Ulu Ulu Safari Restaurant’s buffet spread offers diverse dishes, from local favorites to international delights.

I relished trying the satay, skewers of succulent grilled meat accompanied by a flavorful peanut sauce. It’s a dish synonymous with Singaporean cuisine and an absolute delight to the taste buds.

The restaurant also serves up a variety of international options, making it an excellent choice for diners with diverse tastes.

When you’re finished with your meal, you can step out onto the terrace to enjoy the sounds of the rainforest and the enchanting ambiance of the Night Safari.
